Plymouth: 1820 Courthouse Consortium meets Thursday night

The 1820 Courthouse consortium was created by the town of Plymouth since to improve the 1820 Courthouse corridor in the downtown area, and first met back in November 2009.

Chairman of the Dean Rizzo says they have been meeting weekly and bi-weekly since then:

"Working diligently on short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the 1820 Courthouse property as well as the corridor," said Chairman Dean Rizzo. "[The Corridor] is an approximately 3 ½ acre site that we feel as a consortium and the town is a great potential for redevelopment that would hopefully drive an economic stimulus for the downtown Plymouth area."

Rizzo says they have been reviewing past plans for the corridor and have a list of long and short-term goals.

The list of repairs that they are currently engaged in for the courthouse itself include a contract signed to remove old oil tanks from the grounds around the courthouse, asbestos management, roof repairs, facade improvements, and repairs to the exterior.

The group is also developing a long term strategic plan for the entire corridor.

The consortium meets Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Plymouth Public Library.
