The board of health was expected to meet Wednesday night, to discuss the future of the Motel 6 on Union Street near Route 3 in Braintree. That meeting was postponed.
In a statement released to WATD late Wednesday night by Accor North America, the parent company of Motel6, Sr. Vice President for Safety and Security Victor J. Glover Sr., says the meeting that would have possibly revoked the license of Motel 6 has been postponed indefinitely- the statement reads;
"We are currently working very closely with the Mayor's office and the police department to resolve any issues that the city may have and to evaluate various renovation plans to update the property with our new prototype design. Significant progress has been made in both areas and, as a result, the Board of Health hearing has been postponed indefinitely. "
Mayor Joe Sullivan says, the plans submitted to the town would include a "multi-million-dollar upgrade" to the building.
Mayor Sullivan and Representative Joe Driscoll have called for the hotel to close its doors unless something could be done to eliminate the problems that have plagued the hotel for years; such as a murder-suicidein April, and a fatal drug overdose shortly thereafter.
