As the 6th anniversary of Maura's disappearance passes on Tuesday, her heartbroken family and friends will continue to look for answers.
Over the past six years, there's been very few new details released by investigators about the disappearance, but an article published in the New Hampshire Union Leader on Sunday states that tests are being performed on possible new evidence.
It's not clear what that evidence is.
Maura's family did not learn about the latest developments from State Police, instead, the family found out from a Union Leader reporter, who called to seek comment from the family.
On Monday night, the "Investigation-Discovery" Channel will air a television program titled, Disappeared. The show will feature the investigation into Maura's disappearance, and will reveal the life of Maura Murray.
On February 9, 2004, Maura, who grew up in Hanson, left her dormitory at Umass Amherst, and headed north. Police say she took money from her bank account and purchased alcohol at a liquor store, and started to drive north towards Bartlett, New Hampshire, when she was involved in a single car crash. After that crash the avid hiker was never seen again.
Some members of Maura's family will take the trip to Haverhill, New Hampshire tomorrow to place a blue ribbon on the telephone pole nearest to where Maura was reportedly last seen.
Over the last few years, many theories have developed. One theory is that Maura ran away to start a new life, another is that Maura succumbed to the elements after her crash, while police have also theorized that she was possibly suicidal. Still others say she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was abducted. But there are still no answers as Maura's family continues to try and figure out what happened.
A call to the New Hampshire State Police went unanswered Sunday.
