Gov. Deval Patrick unveils a second round of 33 transportation projects to be funded with $166 million in federal stimulus money.
The projects that will see funding, were unveiled Monday, and spread across the state, including $10 million for improvements in MBTA bus services.
Projects closer much to home:
- In Weymouth and Rockland - $15 million will go towards the the East/West Parkway regional connector roadway,between Route 18/Hingham Street corridor and Rt. 3 which serves as a backbone for the SouthField development, on the site of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station.
- In Quincy - $8.1 million set aside for the Revere Roadway area road reconstruction, along Quincy Avenue and Hancock Street, Elm street, and Mechanic Street. The funding will allow for the redevelopment of downtown Quincy by separating local traffic from thru traffic.
The projects must be reviewed for final approval by the state's 13 regional Metropolitan Planning Organizations.
The new transportation projects are part of a total of $438 Million in stimulus highway funds allocated to Massachusetts.
