8/12/09 - Governor Deval Patrick has put a stop to the MBTA's hearings on proposed fare increases, saying he wants to wait for a top-to-bottom review of the region's largest transit agency. Yesterday's decision came a day after the MBTA held held the first of a dozen planned hearings. Lawmakers and citizens at the hearing argued against any fare increases. Weymouth Senator Bob Hedlund responds and lashes out at State Transportation Secretary James Aloisi.

US Olympic hopeful Jonathan Jackson lost his eye when he was 8
years-old, after a consumer bottle rocket hit him in the eye. The
Texas native spoke at the press conference on July 1st, 2009, hosted
by State Fire Marshall Stephen D. Coan's office in Milton; speaking
against consumer fireworks and the dangers they present.

The red carpet was rolled out, the stars rolled up in limos and the awaiting crowd stretched around the building. WATD’s John Shea was there to cover the event.
